Paulo Macedo says he was not invited to join the AD government

Paulo Macedo, executive president of CGD, denies that he was invited to join an AD government.

“No one contacted me, so there is no invitation”he said this Friday, on the sidelines of the public bank’s results presentation, when asked about rumors that could be the next Finance Minister or number two in the government of Montenegro.

Faced with the insistence of journalists, the former Health Minister of Passos Coelho’s government refuses “wasting time on something that doesn’t exist”.

Regarding the two positions for which he is being discussed, Paulo Macedo also does not say whether he would accept any, and jokes about the situation: “I am pleased with the upgrade from Finance Minister to Deputy Prime Minister.”

“There is a desire to complete this work, which is essential work, to return money to the Portuguese and to take Caixa’s transformation path forward”, he assures.

Caixa Geral de Depósitos had record profits of 1,291 million euros in 202353% more than the 843 million euros obtained in 2022. 525 million euros will be paid to the State in dividends, above the amount of 461 million euros that was budgeted by the Government.
