Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) launched this Monday the public tender for the contract “Linha de Cintura and Linha Norte – Campolide, Oriente, Alverca and Azambuja concentration stations – Signaling”, within the scope of the digitalization of railway transport.

Common base price of 77 million eurosthis contract under a design-build regime, foresees the replacement of the current signaling system at the Campolide, Oriente, Alverca and Azambuja concentration stations, “with the aim of making the physical and functional connections of the Northern line, of the national railway network compatible , with the future high-speed line, allowing combined use, relevant to the objective of territorial cohesion” of high speed, the company said in a statement.

The total length to be intervened will be around 55 kilometers double and quadruple lanes.

According to IP, the competition includes the investment destined for the signaling system, financed, in a total of 49 million of euros within the scope of the “digitalization of rail transport”, in the sustainable mobility component” of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and also includes subsequent maintenance provisional receipt of the investment component.

“The completion of this project will contribute to the creation of interoperable railway corridors, as well as increasing the availability and reliability of railway infrastructure, in safety, and also promoting interoperability and international interconnection to and from Portugal”, he further explains.

Right now, IP has a total of 378 million euros of investment in the PRR already completed, in the execution phase or in the contracting phasein the road component, to which is now added 49 million in the railway component.

Of the 27 road projects within the scope of the PRR, IP has already launched 23 works. Of these, two projects are completed, 11 are in the contracting phase and 10 are being executed.
