The Portuguese square could not resist the red tide that swept the main European squares this Tuesday. Only BCP managed to close with gains, while REN and Greenvolt closed unchanged.
The Lisbon stock exchange ended up losing almost 1% this Tuesday on a day of heavy losses among the main markets in Western Europe. The PSI fell 0.97%, to 6,615.56 points, relieving its highs since 2014.
Among the 16 listed on the main national index, only BCP closed in the green, while REN and Greenvolt ended the day unchanged and the remaining 13 ended with a decline.
Mota-Engil led the losses, with a drop of 4.14%, to 4.072 euros, followed by Ibersol, which yesterday reported its 2023 accounts, with a drop of 3.04%, to 7.02 euros.
Paper pulp producers Navigator and Altri closed down 1.89% and 1.33%, respectively.
In energy, EDP Renováveis lost 1.76%, to 12.87 euros, EDP lost 1.56%, closing at 3.526 euros, and Galp, which presented its first quarter results this morning, depreciated 0. 93%, to 20.20 euros, relieving from the historic highs reached the day before.
Also weighing on the index were retailers Sonae, which lost 1.05% to 0.94 euros, and Jerónimo Martins, which fell 0.72% to 19.35 euros.
On the rise, only BCP closed, on a day in which several Spanish banks presented results and it was announced that BBVA had approached Sabadell for a merger. The bank led by Miguel Maya advanced 0.92%, closing at 0.3286 euros, the highest closing value in almost five months.
