He began by dedicating himself to the construction of chimneys for factories in the textile industry, at the end of the 19th century, but it is with the fourth generation of the family at the helm that, in the last two decades, he has specialized in the construction of units for the industrial and logistics sector. – especially for multinationals – areas that are worth three quarters of their turnover.

“In terms of weight, international customers represent around 50% of the construction company’s turnover”, guarantees Garcia Garcia, who closed 2023 with revenues of 104.4 million euros, in what was its second best year ever , remaining half a dozen million of those registered in the 2022 financial year.

“Despite a slight decrease compared to the same period last year and which is justified by the current national and international economic situation, the construction company maintained in 2023, for the second consecutive year, a turnover above 100 million euros”, emphasizes Garcia Garcia , in a statement, highlighting its contribution to “attracting foreign direct investment”.

Last year, Garcia Garcia took on works for multinationals such as Mercadona’s new logistics center in Almeirim, BorgWarner’s new industrial unit in Viana do Castelo, Logicor’s logistics center in Santo Tirso, Weg’s new Tirsense factory, the new “retail center” in Santo Tirso or Kantar’s new technology center in Matosinhos.

“Although the company’s ‘core business’ is ‘design and build’ in the industrial and logistics area, we have continued to invest in the market by promoting some residential projects, as well as office, industrial and logistics projects, taking advantage of opportunities at the from ‘build to rent'”, says Miguel Garcia, administrator of Garcia Garcia.

“At the same time, we have invested in the development of industrial parks, aimed at hosting large-scale projects”, he adds.

In addition to expanding Parque da Ermida, in Santo Tirso, to 110 hectares, he is working on a new park that, Miguel Garcia believes, “will become a reference in the North zone in the next decade”.
