Minor cosmetic repair of a Rivian cost 21 thousand dollars. The debate is on!

-

When buying a car, there are many elements to consider, some weighing more than others, depending on the future owner. Maintenance and repair, for example, are relevant factors. The owner of this Rivian R1T said, on Reddit, that a simple repair, after a small collision, cost 21 thousand dollars.

On Reddit, the owner of a Rivian R1T electric car shared that a truck crashed into his vehicle, causing a crush, while it was parked. The impact will not have affected the structure of the car, being a purely aesthetic problem.

However, as reported, the costs associated with repairing the vehicle were surprisingly high. On Reddit, the comments quickly sparked a debate regarding the costs of repairing cars, particularly electric ones.

As shown by the user, the parts to be replaced cost $4580.95. However, the receipt totaled more than $21,000. In addition to the almost two thousand fees, the bill also included the hours of work that would have been dedicated to the vehicle: 120 $/h for the bodywork and finishes, 165 $/h for structural work, and 195 $/h for mechanical work.

After all, a large part of the repair cost went to labor costs.

As reported, it was not the owner of the Rivian who paid the more than 21 thousand dollars, as the person responsible for the collision assumed the costs. However, criticism of the value presented was not spared.

Repair costs appear to be a problem for electric car owners. Remember that, in January, the giant Hertz announced that it would sell around 20,000 electric vehicles and opt for gasoline-powered vehicles, among other reasons, due to higher expenses related to collisions and damage to electric vehicles.
