Half a year after entering Italy with the opening of the first autonomous supermarket in the country, introducing its technology in a store in Verona, Portuguese startup Sensei will extend the “fastest, queue-free shopping experience” to a second commercial space in the countrythis time, located in Trento.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the technology company indicates that the neighborhood store “Tuday Prendi & Vai” (“Take and Take”, in Portuguese), which opens this Thursday, offers, like other stores developed by it, “a new way of shopping” providing an “experience as simple as going to the pantry at home”.

This is because “technology allows customers to simply come in, pick up the products they want and leave, without having to go to a cashier and wait in line to pay”, explains Sensei, indicating that there is, however, a team to help the customer. Sensei thus returns to ally with the DAO – which “manages the number 1 retail brand in Italy, in the provinces of Trento, Bolzano, Vicenza and Verona” – and repeated the feat of opening a pioneering store, based on artificial intelligence, in Italy, with the CEO, Vasco Portugal , considering it a “privilege” to have the cooperative as a “partner and pioneer in this expansion of autonomous retail in Italy”.

“Opening a new store is always a proud moment, but The opening of a second store is a historic moment for Sensei. This milestone marks the beginning of our expansion in Italy and highlights the practical value and convenience of our technology, far beyond mere technological enthusiasm”, says the startup’s co-founder, quoted in the same note.

Through computer vision technologies, sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms created by Sensei, the store has the ability to identify products removed from the shelves by customers, creating a virtual cart for each user.

According to the startup, the customer is free to choose the place where they prefer to store the products (in a bag, backpack or even pockets), as well as to return the products to the shelf, removing those products from the store system. products from their virtual cart” and, at the end, they leave the store by touching a card or showing the QR code present in the application where they registered a payment method associated with their purchases”.

A Sensei says it was the first technology company to open a fully autonomous store to the public in Europein partnership with Continente, and also a pioneer by opening an autonomous supermarket in Latin America.
