O The government approved, on Thursday, a measure that suspends until 2025 the rules that were preventing several businesses in seven municipalities in the country, including property sales, purchases and sales and donations, mortgages or sharing.
In the statement from the Council of Ministers on Thursday it can be read that the Government “approved a decree-law that changes the land registry regime“, without providing further details.
However, with this decree-law, explains Jornal de Negócios, the rules that prevent registrations from being carried out in seven municipalities in the country are suspended until January 2025 to allow the installation of a computer platform that has been provided for by law for six months, but has not yet been created.
It is worth remembering that these rules were already suspended by decision of the previous Executive, but only until the end of August.
The lack of a land registry IT platform, required by law, was stopping several businesses in seven municipalities in the country – Loulé, Oliveira do Hospital, Paredes, Penafiel, São Brás de Alportel, Seia and Tavira.
Sale of properties, purchases and sales and donations, mortgages or sharing are some of the pending issues in these municipalities.
Therefore, there was a set of legal requirements that could not be met and made registration impossible, which is essential for a legal transaction to have legal validity.
