PAtricia is a 101 year old woman. However, for the North American airline American Airlines, she is a one-year-old baby. At issue is an error in the reservation system.
According to the BBC, which witnessed the unusual story during a flight, the airline’s systems are unable to calculate Patricia’s age because it assumes she was born in 2022 – and not in 1922.
“It was funny to think that I was just a child and I’m an old lady!”, said the elderly woman.
The case happened during a flight between Chicago and Marquette, Michigan, United States, during which Patricia was accompanied by her daughter, Kris.
“My daughter booked her ticket online and the airport computer thought my date of birth was 2022 and not 1922,” Patricia told the BBC journalist.
“The same thing happened last year and they were also expecting a child and not me,” he added.
The elderly woman, a former nurse by profession, explained that she travels every year to see her family and that she was always well received by American Airlines employees. However, she would like to see the situation corrected because it causes her “some problems”, including the fact that the crew was not prepared with a wheelchair for the elderly woman because they thought she was going to have a baby.
“I would like the computer to be repaired, as my poor daughter had to carry all our luggage and clothes for almost a kilometer and a half from one boarding gate to the other”, he further explained.
Patricia revealed that she already has her next trip planned, which will take place when she is 102 years old. At that point, she expects to be treated like an elderly woman and not a two-year-old baby.
