Andrezinho announces the release of an album with new songs and the participation of Anderson Leonardo

Member Andrezinho, from Molejo, announced, during the wake of singer Anderson Leonardo, that the group will release a new album in the second half of the year: O Paparico do Molejo. The work features new songs and reinterpretations of the group’s old songs.

According to him, Anderson actively participated in the work.

“He was always very hyperactive, thinking two steps ahead. He arranged a lot of things, directed practically everything. We re-recorded a lot of Molejo’s stuff, there are new songs too and new reinterpretations of some old things”said Andrezinho, who gave details about some participations planned in the new work.

“We recorded with the participation of several friends, raised with Anderson, such as Xande de Pilares, with Thiaguinho, Dudu Nobre“, he commented.

Andrezinho said that the recording process was difficult, and that it was Anderson’s dream to do the work. “We had a problem on the official recording day due to the rain, and all the artists were willing to stay. It’s a project that we are guarding with the greatest affection in the world. It was his dream to do Paparico do Molejo.”

The singer’s body is laid to rest, this Sunday (28), at the Jardim da Saudade Cemetery in Sulacap, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

Molejo members stated that Anderson Leonardo needs to be remembered with joy and positivity. Andrezinho stated that this appeared even in the most difficult moments faced by the group.

“We have to, even in adversity, remember that Molejo brings joy to the public, and Anderson is the representative of that in the general context. Anderson is personalized joy, and he managed to transmit that throughout all these years. We have to remember of Anderson with joy, with positivity, with good things”, said Andrezinho.

“Son, your soul was collected with nobility, I feel sad for not hugging you anymore; But my comfort and my pride is having been your father and having made you an icon, a complete professional, a wonderful father to your children, a sensational son, an extraordinary friend and, above all, an enlightened and unforgettable human being”, said Bira Haway, the singer’s father, who at the funeral said he was very saddened by the loss of his son.

Music producer Milton Manhães, who released Zeca Pagodinho, Fundo de Quintal and Almir Guineto, was also responsible for the beginning of Anderson Leonardo’s career. He said that the legacy left by the Molejo singer is “very big”.

Vocalist Mumuzinho said that “samba is in mourning”, and that he paid tribute to Anderson Leonardo at a show. “He was a pillar of samba, a strong beam. He was a very complete guy, I was scared by the musical knowledge he had”, he defined.

Rafael, Anderson’s son, described his father as a humble, happy person and connected to his family, “always with a cavaquinho in his hand”:

“There’s no way to say sad things about him because Molejo is just happiness. It’s an eternal legacy that will always be remembered, with that smile that we’ve always known,” said Rafael.

Better known as Anderson Molejãobecause of his connection with the group Molejo, the singer made history with his lively and humorous hits.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Anderson was one of the founders of the Rio de Janeiro group Pagode, along with Andrezinho, Claumirzinho, Lúcio Nascimento, Robson Calazans and Jimmy Batera.

Anderson was admitted to Hospital Unimed, in Barra da Tijuca, and his condition had been worsening since Sunday (21).

Molejo had big hits across the country, such as “Trap”, “Bucket”, “Child’s play”, “Broom Dance”, “Paparico” It is “General clinic”.

The group, formed in the late 1980s, also recorded several samba-rock songs, including their own “Samba Rock do Molejão”.

The band continues to be active on stage, and Anderson fulfilled a large part of the schedule even while undergoing treatment for the disease.

Anderson had 4 children. Two of them followed in their father’s footsteps: singer and multi-instrumentalist Leozinho Bradock, 29, and Rafael ‘Molejinn’, 28, who is part of Grupo Surpreender. The artist is also the father of Alessa Cristyne, 30, his firstborn, and Alice, the youngest, who turns 4 in May.

Alice is the singer’s daughter with Paula Cardoso, with whom he had been in a relationship since 2012.

“I’m going to fight until the end”, he said at the time, explaining that the first diagnosis of the disease was in the inguinal region.

Anderson further explained that his cancer was rare and said that the new treatment was to prevent the disease from radiating to other regions.

In September 2023, Anderson was admitted to treat a pulmonary embolism, initially diagnosed as pneumonia. At the time, the five other members of Molejo continued with their professional commitments.

Andrezinho, Robson Calazans, Jimmy Batera, Claumirzinho and Lucio Nascimento asked for prayers for the singer. The singer was discharged weeks later, following cancer treatment.

In February 2023, Anderson was hospitalized again, being discharged days later after undergoing a hypogastric nerve plexus block for pain.
