Also from Australia, Jet released just three albums in the 2000s and was quite successful with the song “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”, having ended activities in 2012. Since then the band returned and broke up again two more times, without releasing any more no studio album.

“I spent two days as their vocalist, unofficially”says Nic. “I’ve been living abroad for a long time and I came back to visit my family and spend time with my in-laws. I got up and went to read the newspaper and saw that he was no longer in the band”referring to vocalist Brian Johnson. “I told my father-in-law that it was too much for me, and literally twenty minutes later my phone rings and when I answered it, they asked me, ‘Would you be interested in coming to an audition in Atlanta, Georgia, to possibly sing on these upcoming dates? ?'”.

Caught by surprise, the singer confesses that he didn’t expect to get the job, but who could resist an offer like that? And there he went. “They were in the Black Crowes rehearsal studio, and it was a small place, but they were there with the huge sound rig and I saw AC/DC and thought, ‘There’s no way all these amps are on.’ But they they were! It was the loudest thing I had ever heard so far.”said an impressed Nic.

But the task was not so easy, the mission would have a high level of demand, especially from the band’s guitarist and founder, Angus Young: “Angus tested me a lot. Everything was a test to see how I would do. He would turn up the volume and say, ‘Let’s do this song’ and some of it I didn’t know off the top of my head, and he would just say, ‘Go and learn it.’ . The whole band stood there waiting for me for ten minutes, while I thought ‘what the fuck!’ It was pretty intense, but now I know that Angus was a super professional guy and he wanted to take me to my absolute limit to see how I would react.”.

Nic also commented that he did well on songs from the Bon Scott era, but the problem was the material recorded by Brian Johnson: “He has a very unusual way of singing. And someone said to me, ‘You’re making the mistake of thinking that he moves a huge amount of volume, which is the way I sing. But Brian doesn’t do it like that, he almost whispers directly into the microphone while this huge volume behind him (the band) makes it seem like it’s the loudest thing in the world, but in fact it’s not, he barely makes an effort to sing”.

As we know, the position ended up going to a certain Axl Rose…
