The Municipal Department of Public Security and Traffic (Sestran), through the Municipal Guard, released this Tuesday, 2nd, an overview of the services provided by the Maria da Penha Patrol – specialized in supporting women who are victims of domestic violence. According to the report, during the month of March, several lectures, pamphlets and awareness campaigns against domestic and family violence were carried out. Data – 107 protective measure inspections were carried out, six consultations with the installation of the panic button, 127 face-to-face consultations at the Women’s Police Station, seven consultations carried out by the team in homes. In addition to assistance in two incidents of domestic violence and inspection of non-compliance with protective measures; one with flagrant and two without flagrant.
For the coordinator of Patrol Maria da Penha, GM Michele Zanin, the report shows in practice effective actions to combat, prevent and repress crimes committed against women. “It’s a broad job. The services provided by Patrulha Maria da Penha aim to raise awareness among women more and more,” she said. She also adds that victims are also advised on legislation and rights. “It is worth highlighting that the complaint is essential for us to be effective in these cases”, she highlighted.
