Exhibition at the Casa da Cultura about the city of Lavras

The exhibition began this Monday at the Casa da Cultura, which takes a journey through Lavras’ past.

Conceived by researcher, professor and historian Wagner Gonçalves, the exhibition, which is part of the Visão – Memórias e Patrimônios de Lavras project, brings together documents from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, photos and objects that portray events in the municipality and the State of Minas Gerais.

The exhibition aims to rescue local memory and culture. The Visão project began in 2002, with several heritage education lectures, research and presentations taking into account the rich local collection.

With support from the Secretariat of Culture, Sport, Leisure and Tourism (SCELT), the exhibition has resources from the Paulo Gustavo Law. It will also be visited by students from the city’s public schools with the aim of encouraging heritage education.

Visitation is from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm, until April 15th.

Bio Wagner Gonçalves was president of the Lavras Cultural Heritage Deliberative Council for two terms. Today, Municipal Councilor, he was nominated for the Rodrigo Melo Award – IPHAN as Master. He was responsible for the project to implement the War Shooting exhibition room in the city of Lavras and was awarded the Ceará Expeditionary Heroes Medal, for rescuing the history of Former Combatants from the city of Lavras. He received the Title of Honor of Merit by the Municipal Council of Lavras.
