Last week, the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon), an agency of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), notified ten e-commerce platforms by irregular sale of chlorine dioxidealso called MMS, CDS.
It is a corrosive substance, used in the manufacture of cleaning products, such as bleaches and disinfectants, classified by National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) like a sanitizer. Its sale is controlled by the agency, which even recommends that it be handled only with personal protective equipment. Marketing the product without authorization may constitute a health infraction.
Human ingestion of chlorine dioxide for therapeutic purposes has no scientific evidence and can have serious consequences, ranging from irritation of the nose and eyes, to breathing difficulties and death.

Despite this, this substance has been marketed, without any scientific proof, for consumption, with the claim that it would have medicinal properties, such as the “cure” of autism and the “inactivation” of vaccines.
According to Senacon, at least one of the notified platforms recommended the oral consumption of chlorine dioxide associated with “bactericidal, fungicidal, vermifugal, virucidal properties, in addition to eliminating medication toxins, alkalinizing the body’s pH and reducing chronic inflammation”.
The electronic platforms notified were: Planeta Detox, Casa dos Naturais, Purificadordeagua.shop, AZ Natura, CLO2, Betesda Purificadores, Purifica Brasil, Nutriwave, Farma Cerrado and Dragon Fire Gateway.
