The sale of 70% liquid alcohol was banned again in Brazil this Tuesday (30/4). Now, the product can only be sold in gel form. Anvisa had allowed the sale of liquid alcohol to the general public because of the Covid-19 pandemic; but this period ended on December 31st of last year.

The sales period, which ended this Monday (29), only served to deplete stocks in commercial establishments. 70% alcohol in liquid form had already been banned 22 years ago, in 2002, because of domestic accidents. It was released again to facilitate access to disinfection products to combat the virus.

The Brazilian Association of Supermarkets complains that the ban takes away access to a better cost-benefit product, effective in cleaning environments and protecting against diseases. (Brazil Agency)
