The city of Santos followed the guidance of the Ministry of Health and, starting this Friday (3), from 9 am to 4 pm, polyclinics will begin offering the flu vaccine to people of all age groups, from 6 months of life. And to mark the arrival of this large audience and encourage immunization, a new D-Day will be held: this Saturday (4), from 9 am to 3:30 pm, in all polyclinics in the Municipality.

The Health Secretary of Santos, Denis Valejo, warns of the importance of vaccination, as it prevents serious cases (hospitalizations) and deaths from the Influenza A H1N1, Influenza A H3N2 and Influenza B viruses – the ones with the greatest circulation.

“Anyone who took the vaccine last year should take it again, because in addition to the decline in immunity over the months, the formula is updated annually, with the mutations of these viruses”, he warns.

Denis also expresses concern about the hospitalizations recorded in 2024 in residents of Santos who contracted these viruses.

Considering the groups previously classified as priorities by the Ministry of Health, vaccination coverage in Santos against influenza reached 25.29%. “With the expansion, we will be able to vaccinate many more people and form a great barrier to stop the circulation of the flu. I invite everyone to attend the polyclinics and bring their family members, encourage their friends. Getting vaccinated is an act of love and protection towards yourself and others”, defines the secretary.

MULTIVACINATION

Anyone who wants can take advantage of D-Day to update their vaccination card with the other vaccines in the National Vaccination Calendar, except in the Penha, Monte Serrat, Martins Fontes, Vila Progresso and Santa Maria units, which will only be offering flu vaccines.

COVID-19

The bivalent vaccine against Covid-19, used as a booster, which is in short supply due to delays in delivery from the Ministry of Health, and the BCG vaccine, which has its own schedule from Monday to Friday in the units (.

Vaccination against Covid-19 normally continues for children aged 5 to 11 and for those who have not started the vaccination schedule or are waiting for the second dose of the primary vaccination schedule.
