The State Coordination for Protection and Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul has a form for volunteers who wish to work on organizing, selecting and sorting humanitarian aid donations.
Through the website https://casamilitar-rs.com.br/voluntariado/ it is possible to register as an individual volunteer. On the same website, it is also possible for institutions, companies and/or groups interested in volunteering to fill in the data.
On the website, volunteer candidates must select, for example, the days and times they intend to work, as well as provide some data such as date of birth, telephone number and email.
After registering, you must wait for Civil Defense contact to confirm the day and time defined so that the place of presentation can be stipulated.

Activities for volunteers
The Casa Militar website of the Rio Grande do Sul government highlights that the volunteers’ activities, at this time, are carried out in checking the validity of food, assembling basic food baskets, hygiene/cleaning kits and sorting donated clothes.
Civil Defense also emphasizes that it does not provide food or any other remuneration/reimbursement for expenses.
Volunteer activities are carried out at Civil Defense/DRC (within CAFF), at Av. Borges de Medeiros – Praia de Belas, Porto Alegre/RS and also at the facilities of the former CEEE, at Avenida Joaquim Porto Villanova, 201, Jardim neighborhood Carvalho, also in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.
Porto Alegre City Hall also registers volunteers
Porto Alegre City Hall opened an online form this Saturday to register volunteers interested in helping to care for flood victims. The registration form can be accessed at this link.
According to the municipal administration, anyone over 18 years of age can register, but it is possible that not everyone will be called because it is also a priority, at this time, to avoid large movements of people in the municipality.
People with different professional qualifications are needed to help care for the approximately 2,600 people who are located in more than ten shelters spread across the city.
Seven thousand volunteer health professionals have already signed up
For health workers, it is possible to register as a volunteer on the website https://saude.rs.gov.br/cadastro-de-profissionais, of the State Department of Health.
According to a balance released this Saturday (4) by the Rio Grande do Sul Secretariat itself, seven thousand health professionals have already registered to form a pool of volunteers who may be invited to help municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul affected by intense rains.
The collaboration of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists, among others, will take place in hospitals, emergency care units and other health services.
