Netflix revealed good news for all fans of “Squid Game”, one of the biggest cultural phenomena of recent years.

In 2021, Netflix launched a Korean series called “Squid Game” which quickly became a cultural phenomenon, winning with audiences and critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has 95% approval from critics and 84% from the public.

Nominated for 14 Emmys, having won six statuettes, the K-Drama created by Hwang Dong-hyuk followed the story of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), a divorced father who ends up in debt that could cost him his life and ends up agreeing to participate in a mysterious game.

Seong ends up discovering that the game is actually a barbaric event where players bet their lives on children’s games. However, the prize of 45.6 billion jeon (approximately 32 million euros) can not only resolve your debt, but also allow you to improve your family’s life.

Given such success, the platform didn’t take long to give the green light not only to a second season but also to a controversial reality show, “Squid Game: The Challenge”.

As it is one of the most watched and loved series in recent years, there has been a lot of anticipation as to when its return will happen and now Netflix has just given good news to all fans.

In a letter sent to its investors, the company addressed some upcoming release plans, “Looking ahead, although last year’s strikes delayed the release of some titles, we have a big and bold slate for 2024.”

Among the series that will return next year are projects such as “The Diplomat”, the political thriller with Keri Russell; the popular “Bridgerton” or the German series “The Empress”.

However, the most anticipated return that has now been confirmed by the streaming giant is that of “Squid Game”, which will see the return of Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, Gong Yoo and the additions of Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae -won and Won Ji-an.

Previously, the expectation was that the series would premiere in November this year, it remains to be seen whether this will still happen with the delays caused by the Hollywood strike.
