Anne Hathaway is about to return to the screen in her latest film “The Idea Of You”, which premieres in Portugal on May 2nd on Prime Video. Playing opposite Nicholas Galitzine, known for being part of films such as “Red, White and Blue Blood” and “Branded Hearts”, the 41-year-old American actress is also part of the team as producer, and gave an interview about the new production. However, something that Anne Hathaway revealed is being widely commented on.

The actress spoke about a time when she was forced to kiss ten actors to test the possible chemistry she would have with them, and that at the time this was considered “normal”. “In the 2000s — and this really happened to me — it was considered normal to ask an actor to kiss other actors to test their chemistry. Which, in fact, was the worst way to do it”, said the actress in an interview with “V Magazine”.

“Once they told me ‘ten boys are coming here today and you’re already in the squad. Aren’t you excited that you can make out with all of them?’ And I thought ‘is there something wrong with me?’ Because I wasn’t excited at all,” she added.

Anne Hathaway, in the 2000s, took part in almost two dozen films, including “The Princess Diaries” and “The Devil Wears Prada”, but did not specify in which production this had happened, nor with which actors. However, the American actress continued the conversation and confessed that she found it disgusting.

“I thought it was disgusting. I was very young and very aware of how easy it was to lose everything in this industry because it was labeled ‘difficult’, so I pretended I was excited and carried on. It wasn’t a power play, no one was trying to be horrible or hurt me. It was just a different time and now we know better,” she confessed.

As one of the producers of “The Idea Of You,” a film directed by Michael Showalter that tells the story of a 40-year-old single mother who begins a relationship with a 24-year-old member of an up-and-coming boy band, Anne Hathaway wanted to do things differently, and The casting for the role of August Moon, which will be played by Nicholas Galitzine, was based on a question: which song best suits this protagonist?

“We asked each of the actors to choose a song that they felt their character would love and that would get my character dancing, and then we did a little improvisation. I was sitting in a chair, as if we had come from dinner or a walk, and we pressed play and started dancing together,” said the actress.

That’s how the British actor got the role, after putting the band Alabama Shakes on the studio speakers. “It was so easy,” said Anne Hathaway.
