3rd year students at Centro Educacional Municipal Professora Badia de Faria, in the Hugo de Almeida neighborhood, were given a mission to think about ways to prevent Dengue. This is the “Ending Dengue” project, which brings visual narratives through comics and strips, relating images and words with the interpretation of graphic resources.

School director Luiz Fernando Lerche Valsani gives more details about the initiative. “A very creative project prepared by professor Fran and the Education agent, Rosimere Pereira. When working on the topic of Dengue, each group created a script for two scenes and created an onomatopoeia, typed the lines and also made a large printed version: ‘Our comic book'”, he describes.

Professor Francielle Gonçalves Matos Bispo mentions that this is an interdisciplinary work, that in addition to working on art with photography and staging in the Portuguese Language discipline, structure, vocabulary, sentence formation and reading were also addressed. In Mathematics, the numbers of Dengue cases in the municipality were worked on, through graphs and activities. In the Science subject, the life cycle of the mosquito will be covered.

“The objective of the project is to raise awareness about the dangers of Dengue and encourage prevention procedures. We are now in the process of creating a digital version of the story. The students are preparing to present the content and a song to the other classes”, concludes the teacher.
