Since the beginning of the current legislature, the Bota Fora Program has been the subject of discussions in the Jaraguá do Sul City Council. During this period, there were two nominations and a motion to appeal to the municipal executive, reflecting the community’s requests for the reactivation of this important service .

Bota Fora, a project led by the City of Jaraguá do Sul, was deactivated around five years ago. Its last action, in 2018, collected an impressive 670 tons of trash and debris, providing the population with a solution for disposing of bulky and unusable materials. However, the city currently only has a single Voluntary Delivery Point (PEV), located in the Nova Brasília neighborhood, close to Arena Jaraguá. The difficulty in transporting these objects has been an obstacle for many residents.

One of the indications, made in November 2021, requested that the municipal executive branch consider the possibility of carrying out the scheduled collection of unusable materials in neighborhoods, following the Bota Fora Program model. The justification highlighted that, despite the existence of the PEV, many people were unable to afford to transport the materials there, which resulted in inadequate disposal, which was harmful to the environment and the community.

Another indication, made in mid-2022, requested that the municipal executive resume the Bota Fora Program, carrying out monthly collections in the city’s neighborhoods. And in 2023, an appeal motion reinforced the request for the program to be reactivated.

Now, in April 2024, the Bota Fora Program resurfaces with four stages, presented as an additional measure in the fight against dengue in the municipality. These actions will be carried out in the eight neighborhoods with the highest incidence of dengue cases in Jaraguá do Sul, aiming to eliminate possible breeding sites for Aedes aegypti.

During the Bota Fora stages, materials that are difficult to transport and dispose of will be collected, such as mattresses, cabinets, sofas, stoves, refrigerators, computers, tires and other bulky waste. Civil construction materials, tree pruning, flammable or toxic materials, fabrics and clothing will not be collected, which must follow reverse logistics, that is, taken to the place where they were purchased, so that they have the correct final destination.

To facilitate sorting and transportation, collection teams will be available in specialized trucks, divided by type of material. The Bota Fora schedule will cover the following neighborhoods:

– April 6th and 7th: Vila Lenzi / Chico de Paulo

– April 13th and 14th: Rau / Czerniewicz

– April 20th and 21st: Jaraguá Esquerdo / São Luis / Barra do Rio Cerro

– April 27th and 28th: Figueira Island

The activities will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, from 8am to 5pm, with the aim of providing a suitable alternative for the responsible disposal of these materials, thus contributing to the preservation of the environment and public health of the community of Jaraguá do Sul.
