In March there were 2,339 positive cases, while in April, 188 people were diagnosed with the disease

Santo André, April 23, 2024 – Santo André is winning the battle against dengue. This is what data from the epidemiological bulletin from the Department of Health Surveillance shows. The peak of the disease occurred in the epidemiological week from March 16 to 22, with 712 reported cases and 583 confirmed cases. In the week between April 13th and 19th, there were six notifications and two positive diagnoses.

“Santo André always acts with great responsibility and care to offer support to its residents. This drop in numbers is a reflection of collective work between public authorities and the population, who understood our appeal and helped us take care of stagnant water points. In return, we offered a structure so that no Andreense would be left without adequate care”, highlighted the Secretary of Health, Gilvan Junior.

The data from the last epidemiological week are even lower than those recorded at the beginning of 2024. In the first week of the year there were 53 notifications and 39 positive cases. In March of this year there were 2,339 positive cases, while in April there were 188 until the 22nd.

Residents of Andréia with dengue symptoms, such as high fever, joint pain and red spots on the skin, should seek one of the 34 basic health units, spread across all areas of the city, which are supplied with tests to diagnose the disease. Another point of support are the UPAs (Emergency Care Units) that work in the rear.

As a strategy to contain the disease, Santo André chose to carry out an active search in various parts of the city, prioritizing neighborhoods with the highest incidence of cases. Since the beginning of the year, 17,860 properties have been visited, 856 blockades carried out, 495 larvae samples collected and more than 28 thousand people advised.
