Extramural action brings immunization and health services to Planaltina

When passing near the Planaltina Regional Administration this Saturday (27), Silvano Barbosa de Sousa, 47, did not expect to receive four immunizations at the same time. There, in an action far from the vaccination rooms, a team from the Federal District Health Department (SES-DF) offered protection against several diseases on the routine calendar.

Inside the Vaccine Car, Silvano received doses of triple viral, yellow fever, hepatitis B, and adsorbed doses of diphtheria and tetanus (dT). “For me, this type of initiative is very important, especially for the benefit of a more humble society, because we need this support. Vaccination is essential to prevent diseases that may be circulating,” he noted.

In addition to immunization, SES-DF offered integrative practices, rapid tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), capillary blood glucose testing and blood pressure measurement. For the coordinator of the Vaccine Car, Henrique Queiroz, the action increases the population’s access to immunization, taking doses to public places with high circulation.

“The objective is to expand the offer and update as many vaccination cards as possible, considering that many people are unable to reach basic health units due to their routine or work schedules,” he explained.

The Vaccine Car was created in 2022, in Ceilândia, as a measure to protect against Covid-19, during the pandemic. The initiative began to be replicated in other regions, as a way of bringing immunization closer to communities. In addition to Planaltina, the vehicle has already visited regions such as Gama, São Sebastião, Sol Nascente, Água Quente, Guará and Plano Piloto.

Vaccination points

This Saturday, in addition to Planaltina, the ministry carried out extramural vaccinations at the Shopping Popular de Ceilândia and at the Elementary Education Center 3 in Sobradinho. Teams also worked at 18 other immunization sites.
