Last Thursday (25) the city of Volta Redonda was informed by the Federal Government that it will receive 14,942 doses of dengue vaccine. The expectation is that the vaccine will arrive in the municipality this week and that the target audience for the first phase of vaccination will be children between 10 and 14 years old, which is the age group defined by the Ministry of Health.

The sanitary doctor at Volta Redonda Health Surveillance, Carlos Vasconcellos, highlighted that the schedule and locations for vaccination against dengue are being defined by the Municipal Health Department (SMS) and will be announced as soon as the vaccines arrive in the municipality.

“We had already requested the dengue vaccine from the Federal Government and this Thursday we had confirmation that the doses had been sent. At this first stage, we will administer it to children between 10 and 14 years old, following guidance from the Ministry of Health, and so As we receive new doses, we will expand vaccination”, he highlighted.

Cases

During the long holiday in Tiradentes (21st) and São Jorge (23rd), which took place from Saturday to Tuesday, the city hall kept the five Hydration Centers open for dengue patients.

According to data from Sinan-RJ (Notifiable Diseases Information System), made available by the city hall, until last Friday (26) the municipality registered 14,266 confirmed cases and 25 deaths, 10 women and 15 men aged between 51 and 97 years old.

Flu’s vacine

Furthermore, the Municipal Health Department received new doses of the Influenza vaccine from the State Government this Thursday. On Saturday, the 27th, from 8 am to 5 pm, the “D-Day” of flu vaccination was held in all basic health units in the municipality for people over 6 months of age.

Along with “D-Day”, another edition of “Saturday with Health” also took place, a project that provides the same services offered during the week in health units, facilitating access for the population. Among the services were the collection of preventive, prenatal and educational groups, rapid tests for HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis, and also requesting exams, including mammography.
