Understand how drinking apple cider vinegar every day helps you lose weight

Concern about what they call the obesity epidemic has alarmed the world population. In 2024, a study by The Lacent revealed that more than 1 billion people in the world suffer from chronic disease. To try to overcome the devastating consequences linked to obesity, experts began to invest in studies that look for alternative medicines that support weight control.

Among the allies of the scale, experts are recommending apple cider vinegar as a great non-pharmaceutical weight loss agent. A study published by BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health recruited 120 overweight and obese individuals to experiment with apple cider vinegar. For 12 weeks, the participating teens and young adults drank up to a tablespoon of vinegar daily and the results were impressive.

On average, each participant managed to lose around seven kilos after consuming the dose recommended by the researchers. In addition to weight loss, respondents also had lower blood sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride levels at the end of three months.

In an interview with the Helth portal, Rony Abou-Khalil, doctor in chemistry and one of the authors of the study, revealed the motivation for choosing the age range of the interviewees, which varied between 12 and 25 years old.

“This age group was selected to address the lack of research on the effects of apple cider vinegar specifically on younger individuals, as well as attempt to intervene early in the lives of younger people to potentially prevent long-term health complications associated with obesity,” he explained.
