“Community health agents work directly with the community and have an important role in disease prevention and health promotion actions, through home visits or community activities. Therefore, it is important that they stay up to date, to guide and mobilize the population for vaccination actions, thus improving the municipality’s vaccination coverage percentages”, explains the technical reference of the Community Health Agents Program, Luana Silva Queiróz.
During the training, participants will be presented with the National Immunization Program (PNI), the Vacimóvel strategy for improving vaccination coverage in SUS Betim and the updating of the vaccination booklet as a criterion of the Bolsa Família program. Agents will also be instructed on the importance of qualifying registrations for vaccination and carrying out active searches to improve vaccination adherence.
The training is part of the “CHA Monthly Meetings” project, held online on the first Friday of each month. At each meeting, a different topic is discussed about the importance of vaccination for different age groups and people with specific health conditions, in addition to recommendations from the Ministry of Health and changes to the National Immunization Calendar. The meetings began in March and have a defined schedule until July 2024. The May edition will be the only in-person edition.
