Santa Bárbara d’Oeste will host another Blood Donation Campaign on May 7th. The initiative will take place from 9 am to 12 pm at the Lions Clube Centro, located at Rua dos Antúrios, 96, in Jardim Dulce. The next donations of the year are scheduled for July 2nd, September 3rd and November 5th.

To donate, you must present a photo ID and meet the requirements listed below. Donors who have any symptoms of flu or cold should not attend.

The Blood Donation Campaign is a partnership between the City of Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, through the Department of Health, and the Blood Center of Unicamp, with the support of the Lions Club of Santa Bárbara d’Oeste Centro, Pastoral da Saúde Region of Santa Bárbara d’Oeste – Diocese of Piracicaba, São Rafael Mais Saúde, São Vicente Supermarkets and Bella Pane Pães e Doces.

To be a Blood Donor:

Basic requirements:

– Be in good health;

– Be between 16 and 69 years old, as long as the first donation was made up to 60 years old (under 18 years old must be accompanied by their parents);

– Weigh at least 50 kg;

– Be rested (have slept at least 6 hours in the last 24 hours);

– Do not fast, just avoid fatty foods and, after lunch, wait 3 hours;

– You also cannot smoke 2 hours before and 2 hours after the donation;

– People who had bariatric surgery could not donate blood, now they can, just wait 6 months after the procedure and if the person travels to areas endemic for malaria, the deadline for donating is reduced to 3 months.

For those who have had dengue:

– People who have had classic dengue can donate one month after recovery;

– People who have had hemorrhagic dengue fever can donate six months after recovery;

– People who have received the Qdenga or Dengvaxia dengue vaccines can only donate blood four weeks after application.

You cannot donate blood:

– You have the flu, cold or infection accompanied by fever;

– You have syphilis (cancer), malaria (maleita), or Chagas disease;

– You are a chronic alcoholic, or have consumed alcoholic beverages in the last 12 hours; (shorter periods and consumption of small quantities must be assessed by the sorting professional);

– Have been exposed to risk situations for sexually transmitted diseases;

– Current or past history of illicit injectable drug use;

– Have contracted hepatitis after 11 years of age;

– Have had an endoscopy less than 6 months ago;

– Are pregnant, within 3 months postpartum or are breastfeeding.

– Seek guidance if you are recently taking medications, vaccines and/or are undergoing medical treatment.

Donation intervals:

Men 60 days (maximum 4 times in the last 12 months)

Women 90 days (maximum 3 times in the last 12 months)

Women between 60 and 69 years old: 180 days (maximum 2 times in the last 12 months)
