As of this Monday (29/04), the influenza vaccine is available for people of all age groups, over six months old. This measure aims to optimize the use of available vaccine doses and reduce viral circulation in the population, especially among individuals who have risk factors or conditions.

Sobral’s Health Secretary, Letícia Reichel, highlights the importance of this expansion in access to the Influenza vaccine. “We are very pleased to be able to offer the influenza vaccine to all age groups in Sobral. This is a strategic decision to ensure more comprehensive protection for the population and reduce the impacts of influenza in our city.”

Letícia highlights that, although the flu is often underestimated, it can pose a serious health risk, especially for more vulnerable groups. “Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the disease and its complications. By expanding access to the vaccine, we are strengthening collective protection and promoting public health,” she adds.

“As the flu virus constantly mutates, it is important to get the vaccine every year to maintain protection. So, starting this Monday, people can go to the Family Health Center in their neighborhood and get vaccinated. Bring your vaccination card and photo ID ”, pointed out the Immunization manager, Mary Jane Linhares.

The vaccine can be administered at the same time as other vaccines on the National Vaccination Calendar.
