Students become agents of knowledge dissemination in their homes and communities

The actions of the Health Education and Social Mobilization Program (PESMS) of the Environmental Health Surveillance Center continue in the city’s schools. The objective is to inform students about the importance of combating the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
Through the initiative, students become agents of disseminating this knowledge in their homes and communities.
During the visit to schools, lectures and dynamics are held explaining the habits, life cycle and characteristics of diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti. It is worth noting that the schedule is subject to change.

Combat actions
It is worth mentioning that the actions to combat the vector by the Serra Health Department take place throughout the municipality throughout the week on a regular and continuous basis with services such as: placing larvicides in ditches and streams; work with backpack spraying pumps; health education activities; home visits; blockages according to reported cases; and visits to strategic locations (rubber shops, flower shops, scrap metals, among others).
Prevention and monitoring
The prevention and monitoring of dengue fever requires care and, since October, the subject has been a topic of discussion in the municipality’s Health Situation Room, in which data on this arbovirus and cases are systematically analyzed by a technical team with the aim of organizing services , control the disease and prevent deaths. Weekly, technicians meet to assess the situation and outline strategies based on the Municipal Arbovirus Contingency Plan.
