The Judiciary Police (PJ) detained a taxi driver who on Thursday stabbed another in Cabeceiras de Basto, Braga district, that force announced today.
In a statement, the PJ states that the 64-year-old suspect is indicted for the practice of a crime of qualified murder in the attempted form.
According to the PJ, the facts began with a “disagreement that culminated in physical aggression” between the victim and a professional colleague.
The defendant defended his colleague and, “using, presumably, a knife, he struck the victim’s abdominal area and arm, causing him puncture wounds”.
The victim was transported to the Hospital de Guimarães, where he underwent surgery and the aggressor “ran away from the scene”, but would be detained, still on Thursday, by the PJ.
The accused will be present today to the competent judicial authorities at the Court of Guimarães, for the first judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures.
