Between 40 and 50 people were arrested around 11:45 pm this Saturday, in the Sé area, in Braga.

A local source told Porto Canal that the group of individuals is linked to Benfica’s cheerleading squad and was causing disrespect in a bar area. The PSP Special Police Unit rushed to the scene and proceeded to arrest and identify the group, composed of “40 to 50 people.”

Contacted by Porto Canal, the PSP District Command of Braga sends explanations for later.

This is the second episode of contempt and violence associated with Benfica cheerleading in the Minho region in the space of two months. On the 10th of August, a group of Benfica cheerleaders, associated with Hajduk Split supporters, provoked riots in Guimarães and ended up being intercepted and identified on arrival in Porto.

Benfica visited D. Afonso Henriques, in Guimarães, this Saturday, in a game counting for the 8th round of the League. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.
