At the “The Global Gender Gap Report” for 2022, made by the World Economic Forum, Portugal is in the 29th position of the ranking global for gender equality. The study encompasses 146 countries and the first places are occupied, respectively, by Iceland, Finland and Norway.

The report portrays disparities by assessing four indicators: economic participation It is opportunities; education level; health and fertility It is political empowerment. In addition to focusing on wage differences, it takes into account other factors such as the percentage of women on boards of directors, the prevalence of crimes motivated by gender or the comparison in the duration of parental leave between men and women.

In 2022, Portugal was six positions below in relation to the previous year. Data from the study reveal that, within the member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the GPG (Gender Pay Gapor, translated, the wage gap between genders) Portuguese is 11.72%.

According to the report, it takes 182 years to end the gender gap globally considering the current evolution and the factors analyzed in the document. However, record a 4 year reduction forecast since last year. According to the regional assessment, it is estimated that the Europe must be to achieve equality in 2082.

The report also concludes that, globally, Women occupy 33% of leadership positions in the public and private sectors. The main areas led by women are in non-governmental organizations, education, personal services and wellness and health care. In turn, the industries with the lowest percentage are transport and supply chain, energy, manufacturing and infrastructure.
