The Englishman Johnnie Torjussen, in men’s, and the Turkish Neslihan Yigit, in women’s, were crowned champions this Sunday of the 58th edition of the Internationals of Portugal in badminton, which ended in Caldas da Rainha.

Torjussen, 165th in the world ranking, got the better of the Danish Viktor Kauffmann, 233rd, by 21-13, 16-21 and 21-18 in the final.

In women’s singles, Yigit, 70th in the global hierarchy and sixth pre-designated, beat a compatriot who came from the qualifying tournament in the final, Ozge Bayrak (236th), by clear 21-9 and 21-12.

In the pairs tournaments, the French Julien Maio and William Villeger (men), the Turks Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci (women) and the Danes Andreas Sondergaard and Iben Bergstein (mixed) prevailed.

The 58th Internationals of Portugal took place at the Centro de Alto Rendimento das Caldas da Rainha, district of Leiria, with the Portuguese Bernardo Atilano, eliminated in the first round, as the first pre-designated in men, as the 89th player in the world.
