An Easyjet plane that departed Lisbon this Thursday morning and was destined for Paris, France, was forced to make an emergency landing in Bilbao, Spain, due to excessive smoke in the cabin. There were 141 passengers on the aircraft, 34 of whom were 12th year students at Escola Secundária Dr. José Afonso, in Seixal.
To what the CM learned from André Claro, the director of the educational establishment, the students were on their way to a study visit as part of the history subject.
“Everything went well. Everyone is calm and safe in Bilbao waiting for the flight that will take them to Paris. Almost no one noticed the situation and the pilot was very helpful”, assured André Claro to CM.
“easyJet can confirm that flight EJU4592 from Lisbon to Paris Charles De Gaulle on 15 February was diverted to Bilbao due to a technical problem. The captain carried out a routine landing and the plane was received by emergency services as routine and precautionary measure”, reads a statement to which the CM had access.
According to Easyjet, all passengers disembarked normally and a replacement plane was scheduled so they could continue their flight to Paris.
