The general secretary of CGTP-IN, Tiago Oliveira, and the coordinator of Fiequimetal, Rogério Silva, were, this morning, at 7:00 am, with the strike picket in the Panasqueira mines.
Before the start time of each shift, workers must gather at the entrance to the mine (Rebordões, laundry), on a strike picket line.
At the meeting on the 11th, with STIM, mediated by the Ministry of Labor, the management of Beralt Tin and Wolfram (Portugal) made it clear that it continues to not value workers. With no other option, the way is to fight, entering into strike from tomorrowon the 14th, the union appealed.
The administration presented itself at the meeting, which it requested, with the same 6 percent proposal. Only after insistence did she change her position, remaining far from satisfying the workers’ fair demands.
The BTWP proposed a 6 percent increase in the base salary and a production premium, payable above 70 tons, to be in effect from March 1 to December 31.
As workers well know, this talk of a productivity bonus will not bring them any benefits. It’s just a question of wanting to “cover the sun with a sieve”. The prize is not fixed and its value varies. Furthermore, whenever 70 tonnes are not reached in a month, the difference is deducted from the following month. This ends up not being advantageous and is even penalizing.
