Right turn in Beja: PCP points to the media and “economic groups”, Chega highlights “uncontrolled immigration”

-

Alentejo has turned completely to the right, with the majority of deputies elected by the districts of Portalegre, Évora and Beja now belonging to parties to the right of the Socialist Party (PS): in this case, the PSD and Chega, which it elected in all districts on the mainland, with the exception of Bragança. The Unitary Democratic Coalition (CDU), which brings together the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) and the Ecological Party “Os Verdes” (PEV), follows the opposite path. After losing his parliamentary representation in Évora in the last legislative elections, he now loses his deputy for Beja, João Dias.

“It’s a shame, there’s no other way to say it. It is a setback in our conditions of strength and struggle to continue developing the Alentejo, but it does not discourage us, nor does it make us give up on anything”, guarantees Ângelo Alves, member of the political committee of the PCP central committee and responsible for organizing the Alentejo .

In an interview with Expresso, the PCP district leader warns, however, that everyone has “social responsibility and political responsibility” for the growth of the party led by André Ventura, “including the media”.
