The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) seized, in a restaurant and beverage establishment in Vila Real, 915 kilograms of products of animal origin, originating from clandestine slaughter, with a total value of 6,617 euros, it was announced this Saturday.

“Around 915 kg of various products of animal origin were seized and, after being subject to examination by the municipal veterinarian,” they were considered deteriorated, lacking traceability and originating from clandestine slaughter, ASAE said in a statement.

Following this operation, three defendants were also arrested, subject to an identity and residence order and summoned to appear in court.

The total value of the seizure was 6,617.75 euros.

According to the same note, the foodstuffs were found in three horizontal freezers, with “lack of health marking, lack of identification mark, lack of labeling/traceability and poor packaging”.

A pig carcass weighing around 200 kg was found in an annex of the establishment, which showed signs of clandestine slaughter, “without any visible marking of having been subjected to health inspection in a slaughterhouse, which is mandatory before and after slaughter, to screen for diseases.” “.
