A Social Cultural and Sports Association of Casal Galego (ASCDCG) celebrated its 83rd anniversary in style, holding a get-together dinner last Saturday, March 23, at its headquarters. The event brought together several personalities, including local entities, directors, partners, users and friends of the association.

The commemorative session was marked by the presence of president of the ChamberAurélio Ferreira, the councilors Ana Laura Baridó and Lana Lino, the director of the Leiria District Social Security Center, João Paulo Pedrosa, the secretary of the Marinha Grande Parish Council, Ana Paula André, the president of the Parish Assembly, Isabel Freitas, and the president of the ASCDCG board, Liliana Prior.

During the event, the president of the Chamber, Aurélio Ferreira, congratulated the new members of the governing bodies, installed in January, as well as the partners and users who benefit from the association’s activities. He praised ASCDCG’s commitment to the social area, especially its work on behalf of the elderly population and the organization of the Crafts and Gastronomy Fair (FAG).

The director of the Leiria District Social Security Center, João Paulo Pedrosa, highlighted the pioneering spirit of ASCDCG in promoting strategies to deal with the aging population, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in a context of increasing life expectancy.

Ana Paula André, representative of the Marinha Grande Parish Council, praised the dedicated and selfless work of the association’s members, recognizing their contribution to the community.

The president of the board, Liliana Prior, recalled the activities carried out over the last year, emphasizing the resumption of FAG and ASCDCG’s continued commitment to promoting the well-being of people at all stages of life, especially the approximately 100 elderly people who benefit from home support services, social center and day center.

In addition to the official interventions, the dinner was livened up by Jorge Batista’s musical performance and the delivery of recognition badges to members who completed 25, 50 and 75 years of association, making the celebration even more special and memorable.
