The Vila Real team is thus part of the group of 12 teams that advance to this stage of the competition, “keeping alive the dream of going far in this competition”, BCVR is now part of the group of the twelve best national teams.
BCVR’s Cadets (Under-16) women’s team is in the spotlight, because, despite the defeat in the last round, against CD da Póvoa (63-65), they secured passage to the next stage of the National Cup.
“An excellent performance by the BCVR women’s teams marked the day”, highlights the club.
The under-14 game, played at the Sports Pavilion, “was intense and extremely difficult”. The game did not start well for the Vila Realenses, the first two periods of the game were dominated by the Académico do Porto team, who went into the break with a 15 point lead. But the break allowed the performance to be corrected, the team began a “reassembly” and with an excellent fourth period, they turned the score around and ended the game with a “deserved and convincing” victory.
The team, led by Lara Lopes and Mafalda Minhava, played with Sofia Areias, Francisca Barros, Luana Barros, Ema Conde, Carolina Leite (captain), Carolina Cardona, Joana Silva, Leonor Gonçalves, Beatriz Morais, Mariana Pinto, Rita Santos and Margarida Torgo.
