The Municipal Museum of Tavira promotes, on March 30th, at 10:30 am, a new guided tour of the exhibition “Balsa, Roman City”, under the guidance of archaeologist Celso Candeias, senior technician at the local municipality.

On view at Palácio da Galeria, the exhibition “Balsa, Cidade Romana” provides a journey of 2000 years, to the time when it flourished, next to the banks of the Ria Formosa, the city that became the capital of a municipality Roman.

Throughout 10 rooms, and through an exhibition based on around 100 pieces from various national museums, the visitor learns about various aspects linked to the origin and evolution of that city, as well as its main economic activities, eating habits and the daily lives of its inhabitants.

There is also the opportunity to learn about the names of some Balsa citizens and their positions and professions, their concerns about health, beauty and religion or the funeral rituals practiced by some of them at the time of the death of their loved ones, whose names, engraved in stones, remained eternal to this day.

Those interested in participating (maximum 15 people) must register by March 29th by clicking here.
