ASAE, through its Southern Regional Unit – Évora Operational Unit, carried out an operation that resulted in the seizure of two fuel supply equipment, one for diesel and the other for gasoline, at two service stations located in the municipality of Grândola , district of Setúbal.

During the intervention, inspectors from the ASAE detected a speculative practice in the equipment. Even before the start of each supply, when the user restarted the counting equipment, the counter automatically changed, starting counting at values above zero. This manipulation resulted in an automatic charge of 10 cents, which quickly increased to 90 cents, without there being any “real” fuel supply.

Despite the equipment in question displaying validity and conformity seals, indicating that they had been subject to metrological control this year, ASAE proceeded with their sealing and precautionary seizure for technical expertise.

The evidence points to the practice of the crime of speculation, considered an anti-economic crime, and the crime of forgery of technical notation. All details were communicated to the Grândola Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP).

The total value of the seizure is estimated at €13,000.00, demonstrating the seriousness with which ASAE faces infractions that harm consumers and the economy in general.
