On April 4th, at 6pm, the Eng. António de Almeida Foundation will host a tribute to Fernando Aguiar-Branco, former student and Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Coimbra (UC). This tribute is organized by UC in partnership with the Eng. António de Almeida Foundation and the Coimbra Former Students Association (AAEC), as part of the celebrations of the centenary of his birth and Former Student Day.

The event will be attended by prominent personalities, including Rui de Figueiredo Marcos, president of the UC Sino-Lusóphone Academy and full professor at the UC Faculty of Law, who will give the conference entitled “O Former Student of the University of Coimbra, Fernando Aguiar -White”. In addition, there will be interventions by Jorge Castilho, president of AAEC, Augusto Aguiar-Branco, president of FEAA, and João Nuno Calvão da Silva, vice-rector for External Relations and Alumni at UC.

After the ceremony, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a convivial dinner, accompanied by musical moments provided by the group Raízes de Coimbra and the Fado Section of the Associação Académica de Coimbra.

This event will also mark the presentation of the “Prémio Doutor Fernando Aguiar-Branco”, an annual distinction established by the Academia Sino-Lusófona da UC, with the financial support of the Fundação Eng. António de Almeida. The award aims to recognize studies in the field of Lusophone Letters, Legal Lusofonia or on outstanding figures from the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, carried out by members of the teaching staff, non-teaching staff and researchers at UC, from of the academic year 2024/2025.
