With some delay compared to previous years, but with the collaboration of S. Pedro, the traditional boat crossing of Compasso Pascal de Fiscal, Amares, took place this afternoon.

A crowd once again filled the banks of the Rio Homem, with some giving up due to the delay, but “it was worth the wait”, as many confided.

The two Easter crosses followed together in the stewardship boat, accompanied by the Pascal Compass. Local and municipal entities joined together, on a crossing of around 20 minutes, expertly guided by the boat masters and superiorly guided by the divers and the rest of the Amares volunteer fire department team.

The Cabreiros band joined the crossing and gave even more shine to the moment that everyone looks forward to year after year.

Amidst the crackle of rockets, clapping and demonstrations of devotion and faith, the boats continued along the river, closely followed by a few hundred people who followed the route along the left bank.

The crossing of the ‘Compasso Pascal’ on boats from Fiscal, Amares, is one of the most typical and genuine Easter traditions in Minho, which always attracts many curious people to the banks of the Homem River.
