The Local Health Unit (ULS) of Braga marked, this Monday, the 10th anniversary of the Hemodialysis Unit of the Nephrology Service, which provides care to users with chronic kidney disease.
The Service’s professionals demonstrated how the physical space of a Hemodialysis Unit is organized, in the Ágora of Braga Hospital, through an exhibition that can be visited until the end of the week.
Over the last ten years, the Nephrology Service at ULS de Braga carried out a total of 79 thousand consultations and around 62 thousand hemodialysis sessions at the Braga Hospital. There were three thousand visits to the Emergency Department and around two thousand hospitalizations.
“The activity data reflects the significant impact that the Hemodialysis Unit has had on the lives of thousands of people in the Braga region”, says ULS.
The ULS Braga Nephrology Service has a team of more than 30 professionals, including nephrologists, nurses, operational assistants and a dietician. The hemodialysis unit operates 24 hours a day, throughout the week.
