The Diogo Cão School Group was represented in Santiago de Compostela, where a group of students traveled as part of the Erasmus+ project.

In a statement, the students reveal that “we were very well received by everyone, with great kindness”, indicating that, on the first day of visiting the city, they had the opportunity to observe “historical monuments and learn about the story of the “Two Marias”, victims from the period of dictatorship in the country”.

The program also included a rock music concert by Galician artist Pauliña, with a focus on gender equality, a visit to Castro de Baroña, passing through Noia, and a traditional dance, where students taught locals how to dance “O Regadinho” .

It was also possible to visit the Luís Iglesias Natural History Museum, take a tour of Sarela, the place where Zeca Afonso sang “Grândola Vila Morena” for the first time, and visit the Faculty of Communication Sciences, one of the works of Portuguese architect Siza Vieira.

On the same note, the group highlights that “our students were treated with great affection and kindness by the Spanish families, who did everything to make their stay in Santiago unforgettable, creating lifelong friendships.”

“There were very pleasant moments of conviviality between everyone (Portuguese and Galicians). It was, in fact, a trip that will remain in everyone’s memory. It was an enriching experience from a pedagogical, cultural and gastronomic point of view”, reads the note.

SUPPORT OUR WORK. SUPPORT NEARBY JOURNALISM.

At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and local journalism. Access to most VTM news is (still) free, but it is not free, journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way of directly supporting A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our counterpart is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It means continuing to inform despite all the contingencies of confinement, without having stopped for a single day.
