Beer Runners about to start in Portalegre

-

Cervejeiros de Portugal, Portalegre City Council and DAP – Desporto e Aventura de Portalegre organize the 3rd Edition of Beer Runners, a race that encourages physical exercise and combines the social act of sharing a beer with friends. It is the first time that the city of Portalegre hosts this race, which is scheduled for Saturday, with the opening of the venue scheduled for 9 am, next to the Municipal Market.

Aimed at all those who exercise, whether professional or amateur athletes, the sporting event returns with a 10-kilometer running route and a 5-kilometer walk in the center of the city of Portalegre.

This year, the initiative has a great novelty, as the big winner of this competition will have the opportunity to guarantee their place in the Confraria da Cerveja, an exclusive event that promotes passion and recognition of the importance of this ancient drink, which will take place in Portalegre, on May 9th.

At the end of the race, all participants who cross the finish line will be encouraged to celebrate and enjoy a beer with or without alcohol. “This initiative is a celebration of sport, health and the complementarity between both concepts. Here, the key word is balance and we want to show that it is possible to enjoy the benefits of sport without ever compromising good moments of conviviality accompanied by a beer. After all, the secret is in balance and that is our motto”, says Francisco Gírio, general secretary of Cervejeiros de Portugal.

Marco Sales Cardoso, Councilor for Sports at Portalegre City Council, says: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome this initiative in our city. Portalegre asserts itself as the Capital of Adventure Sports, with unique natural conditions and a dedicated infrastructure, we are prepared to host this exciting and unique event in the city and the country. For this reason, we invite everyone to participate in this experience. Together we will fill the streets of Portalegre!”

Registration, individually or as a team, must be made on the official Beer Runners website. These will close as soon as 200 registrants are reached. More information HERE.
