SPORT – Braga defines criteria for supporting sport and associations for this year

The Chamber of Braga publicly presented the criteria for supporting sport and sports associations for the year 2024. In this session, held at Forum Braga and which included several sports groups in the municipality, the new IT tool to support the presentation of applications.

In a statement, the municipality states that “municipal investment in sports promotion and support for its communities has gradually increased in recent years, with an increase of half a million euros in the last decade, reaching the maximum value of municipal support in the year 2023, in the order of 1,267,782.24 euros”.

“Despite this reinforcement and recognizing the importance of sport and physical exercise for the health and well-being of people from Braga, the criteria now presented further reinforce the investment and commitment in this specific area of ​​municipal action, providing sporting communities with more means to promote their sporting dynamics”, he adds.

The criteria defined for 2024 focus on ten different areas: Sports Membership; International Representation; Positive Discrimination in Female Gender and Adapted Sport; Acquisition of Goods; Travel to Competitions; Sports Results; Sports Ethics; Sports Projects; Sports Infrastructures; Penalty Measures for entities that substantiate acts of violence and indiscipline.

NEW PLATFORM

According to the Chamber, “in order to facilitate the process of institutional dialogue between municipal services and sports groups, the municipality also invested in its administrative modernization, reducing bureaucracy and dematerializing the application process, in addition to guaranteeing the transparency of processes, through the acquisition of computer software to support sports management, a tool that will support all municipal support measures in the sports area”.

For Sameiro Araújo, vice-president of the municipality of Braga, this session “was extremely important for the sporting community and represents a significant step in promoting the municipality’s sporting development”. On the other hand, added the councilor, “it demonstrates the commitment to modernization and efficiency in the management of resources allocated to sport”.
