A Mangualde City Council will posthumously pay homage, on April 25th, to the former minister and socialist leader George Rabbitwith the delivery of City Gold Medal.

Born in Mangualde, Jorge Coelho, died on April 7, 2021, at the age of 66, after a life spent in various positions in the socialist governments of António Guterres: Deputy Minister, Minister of Internal Administration and Minister of the Presidency and Social Equipment .

In addition to Jorge Coelho, the founder of the Rotary Senior University of Mangualde, Maria Teresa de Almeida Cruz, and the former president of the Mangualde City Council, João Azevedo, will also receive the City Gold Medal.

The Paralympic shot put athlete, Miguel Marques Monteiro, will also be awarded the Municipal Merit Medal.

The award ceremony will take place during the solemn session commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Revolution of April 25, 1974, which will take place in the auditorium of the Dr. Alexandre Alves Municipal Library.
