Portugal receives ultimatum on powers of digital coordinators

Lisboa now has two months to report to the community executive on the due complementation of the aforementioned coordinators with “the necessary powers and competencies to carry out their functions, including the imposition of sanctions in case of non-compliance”, as provided for in the Digital Services Regulation (RDS ).

According to a statement from the Commission, “fully qualified digital services coordinators in each Member State are essential for the exercise of the new rights created under the RSD, in particular to ensure that users can lodge complaints in their place of residence against platforms, grant trustworthy flagger status and enable investigators.
