Associdaire reactivated after 10 years

Inactive since 2014, Associdaire – Associação de Melhoramentos da Maxieira, Casalinho and Casal Farto has been reactivated once again, with the new governing bodies having already been elected and taken office. At the head of the board is Isabel Pedro and alongside Telmo Pinto (vice-president) and André dos Reis (treasurer).

Luís Daniel is the president of the General Assembly and has André Pereira as vice-president and Elisabete Reis as secretary. Ana Reis is president of the Supervisory Board while the members are Paulo Figueira and Kevin Reis. Graciela Frazão, Maria Olinda Mangas, Maria Garrucho and Sílvia Pereira are the substitutes.

The creation of the Associdaire aimed at the socio-economic and cultural development of the populations of Maxieira, Casal and Casalinho Farto. Recognizing “the importance and added value” of the association, a group of people living in and linked to the three villages have now decided to “continue the good work that is at the heart of this association”, which involves developing and promoting social well-being, cultural and recreational of the population in general and members in particular.

In this sense, several activities are already planned, including updating the association’s statutes; the regular organization of walks, trekking and mountain crossings and the holding of the “Walk for the Heart”, on the 25th of May. The organization of a memory soiree; collection of stories and figures characteristic of Maxieira; creation of a collection of popular songs, dances and customs shared by current communities through exhibitions, festivals, etc.; promotion of campaigns to control Asian wasps, among other invasive species; support with obligations/responsibilities carried out solely online; support in registering land at the Balcão Único do Prédio (BUPI); boosting the “Clear the Village” project; promoting a fuel management campaign are other planned actions.
