Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the President of Angola, João Lourenço, at the prime minister’s official residence in São Bento, Luís Montenegro assured that cooperation between the two countries and peoples “will continue”.

“I had the opportunity to give the President of Angola an overview of our intentions, of the Government of Portugal, to maintain this path of close relationship between our governments in many areas: from culture to education, to economic relations, which we are interested in deepening”, he highlighted.

The head of the Portuguese executive said that it is the intention of the two countries to hold a meeting of the Portugal-Angola Intergovernmental Joint Commission in Lisbon in the coming months, to “continue the strategic cooperation program” and “deepen commercial relations” between the two countries, ensuring “more intensity in the activities” of Angolan and Portuguese companies.
